The Athletic Edge: Green Hill High School Case Study

Wilson County Schools’ newest high school, Green Hill High School opened for its inaugural school year in August 2020 after breaking ground in September 2018. Located in Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Green Hill is the largest facility within the Wilson County School system and proudly became the fifth school in the district.

The Project

One of the largest public projects built in Wilson County history, the project included a budget of $107 million and and covered approximately 400,000 square feet on the nearly 60-acre site. Now complete, Green Hill High School serves approximately 2,000 students including both high school students and 7th and 8th grade students from nearby Mt. Juliet Middle School as part of Wilson County’s tornado recovery plan. Prior to the March 3rd tornado that damaged West Wilson Middle School and Stoner Creek Elementary, Green Hill was expecting 1,400 students. Now, it will operate at capacity with approximately 2,000-2,050 students for at least the 2020-21 academic term.

Facilities

The new space is in daily use by Green Hill student-athletes and coaches and includes the installation of 506 new steel lockers in multiple locations on campus.

“Every locker room on our campus has been outfitted with an equitable number of the same style of locker from The Athletic Edge. Our basketball locker rooms are in our school building, while football, track, cross country, baseball, softball, tennis, and girls/boys soccer are all outfitted with the same locker setup in their respective field houses,” stated E.J. Wood, Green Hill athletic director.

Steel lockers by The Athletic Edge are constructed from high quality 16 gauge steel formed and welded for superior rigidity. The Hawks chose steel lockers over wood or aluminum based on their durability factor.

“Durability was our number one concern,” stated Wood. “These lockers produce the clean and uniform look you get with wood. The durability is unmatched and will allow us to utilize our space without worrying about having to replace worn out lockers.”

Why AE?

When asked why the Hawks chose lockers from The Athletic Edge, they added, “This was decided on a district level along with our principal Kevin Dawson. At Green Hill, every decision we make is with our students in mind. The ability to provide for all of our student-athletes regardless of sport is a primary factor in choosing a whole school application from The Athletic Edge. One look at the product and it will not be difficult for anyone to make The Athletic Edge your choice!”

Players and coaches alike echo the sentiment of satisfaction.
