Just Play: Outside Zone

X’s & O’s: Midline Outside Zone

For teams that move fast and play faster, the Midline Outside Zone (OZ) is a tremendous asset. With the outside zone, the quarterback must read his first defensive lineman on the back side. If the lineman gets upfield or stays put, the quarterback hands the ball to the T. If the defensive lineman moves laterally, the quarterback pulls and replaces.
