Learn the details behind this designed quarterback run. This is an outside run play designed to option off of No. 1. Offensive line is responsible for the box.

Coaching Points
  • Playside tight end and offensive tackle works to No. 2.
  • Covered with help = Reach; Covered without help = Tight Reach
  • Uncovered short pull, read the knee and decide by the third step
  • Run your angles and close the grass

Notes: All are reaching! Reach, Rip and Run. Uncovered man will run a linebacker angle if the defensive line doesn’t spike hard.

6/6i - Work "TOT SCOOP" with playside tackle to No. 2 linebacker
DOS or MO/MO - "TOT SCOOP" with playside tackle to No. 2 linebacker
T-BUB - Reach defensive end if you can. If you cant, make "1" call to H

ODD:
"TOT SCOOP" with playside tackle to No. 2 linebacker
If Cub/Bear, take care of the BOX players
Playside TackleEVEN:
If no playside tight end, "TAG SCOOP" defensive end to No. 2, or man scoop defensive end.
T-BUB/6/6i/DOS - Work "TOT SCOOP" with playside tight end to No. 2 linebacker

ODD:
If no playside tight end, "TAG SCOOP" defensive end to No. 2, or man scoop defensive end, or "TOT SCOOP" with playside tight end to No. 2.
Cub/Bear - Scoop with playside guard to No. 3
Playside GuardEVEN:
"CALI/CAR SCOOP" with C to No. 3 linebacker. You do not need to work to No. 2!

ODD:
"CALI/CAR SCOOP" with C to No. 3 linebacker. You do not need to work to No. 2!
Cub/Bear - Playside Tackle may call "TAG SCOOP" with you to No. 3
CenterEVEN:
"CALI/CAR SCOOP" with playside guard to No. 3 linebacker. You do not need to work to No. 2!

ODD:
"CALI/CAR SCOOP" with playside guard to No. 3 linebacker, great angles . You do not need to work to No. 2!
Cub/Bear - Work scoop with backside guard from nose tackle to No. 3.
Backside Guard"GAT" with backside tackle. Use "SLIP" to No. 3, or climb to No. 3 now if backside tackle calls "SWAG"
Backside TackleEVEN:
Covered - "GAT" with backside guard. "SLIP" or "SWAG"
Uncovered - Slow wall defensive end to No. 4

ODD:
Covered - "GAT" with backside guard. "SLIP" or "SWAG"
Uncovered - Slow wall defensive end to No. 4
Backside Tight EndReach - Responsible for C-gap. If C-gap is full, reach cutoff/cut. If C-gap is open, slow wall for No. 4 linebacker.
QuarterbackAttack inside leg of the read defender. Pitch or keep.
AOn snap, SPRINT wide to play side. Be 5 yards away and 2 yards behind quarterback.
Playside Wide ReceiverNo. 1 Block Corner's outside tip, do not allow inside penetration.
No. 2 Block outside tip of MDM off the edge for speed option, do not allow inside penetration.
If LOS defender is inside the playside tight end/playside tackle, the No. 1 linebacker becomes pitch and climb to third level.
Backside Wide ReceiverNo. 1 Block backside safety cutoff.
No. 2 Block first man outside tackler.
